The Cable Guy (1996)

Dumb & Dumber, Ace Ventura, & The Mask made Jim Carrey a household name in 1994. When he did The Cable Guy in 1996, Jim shifted away from zany comedy to dark comedy and the results are not bad. Truth be told, I enjoyed this film much more than audiences back in 1996. I think it's interesting to see comedians try their hands at different genres instead of being pigeonholed in the same role. If Robin Williams can shift away to dark thrillers then I think Jim Carrey & any other comedian can do the same. The script for Cable Guy while dark, is pretty good. The acting from everyone is good as well. Pacing is very strong.

Overall, The Cable Guy is a fun dark film that doesn't reinvent the wheel for thrillers, but it's a good watch.
