Scream (1996)
In 1989, the slasher genre was running out of steam. Friday the 13th came out with it's 8th film. Nightmare on Elm Street had come out with it's 5th film and Halloween also had it's 5th film released along with other b-movie slashers. It was clear then, it was over and audiences entering the 1990's wanted something different. It wasn't until 1996, when Wes Craven rebooted the slasher genre with Scream. This movie to quote it literally, "is such a scream". I've always loved the film as it brings back a ton of nostalgia from growing up as a child of the 90's.The script is good, probably one of Wes's best next to The Serpent & the Rainbow. The acting I don't usually care for in slashers but in Scream, it's pretty good and for a slasher, the pacing is very fast paced. I'm one of those guys that just because it did well didn't mean we needed a sequel and Hollywood doesn't care for my opinion so I say, onto the sequels.
I'm Jeff Roman.
