The Defiant Ones (1958)

I watch a lot of movies from different time periods as I enjoy learning about the time era, the political climate and the way actors acted compared to today.  You look at Hollywood back then and it's a much different beast compared to today. There are no actors that I can think of that can hold a candle to the legends of back then. I look at films like The Defiant Ones and I really strive to enjoy what makes them perfect and yes, while things may have changed 67 years later after the film is released. We can learn a lot about the era. The Defiant Ones has parts  involving racism and use of the N word and hearing the stuff that was said in the film, it wouldn't fly today. I'm of the opinion that instead of banning movies because of outrage, we could watch them and not have to worry about any sort of controversy. I think schools should films like The Defiant Ones and study the attitudes of the time and not having to worry about offending anyone.  I'm not going to go into anymore of a political statement, I've said my peace on the matter. I just want to talk a bit about why I enjoyed the film. I think The Defiant Ones is a fantastic film with great acting, good story, and good pacing. Everything about the film is perfect the way it is and it's nice to see Lon Chaney aka the original werewolf play something a little different than what he's used to doing.

I'm Jeff Roman.
