Your Host (2025)

 I got a question for you horror fans out there. Do you ever just watch a horror film whether it be paranormal, slasher, or found footage and then comes along a character who's written so horribly in the script that you can't wait for him or her to be killed off by whatever's chasing them?  Anyone?....Anyone? Well, if you come up with an answer, let me know in the comments. Until then, what can you expect from a movie like Your Host? For starters, the film itself has been done before numerous times but with an exception. The main characters are written in the script as arrogant, cocky, and downright terrible people that the moment they came on screen and started talking, I hated them with a passion. There's so much toxicity in this movie's dialogue that it makes the cringe level go up dramatically. The main reason why I wanted to see this film was for Jackie Earle Haley. He's a good character actor who's done some good work especially in his version of A Nightmare on Elm Street...😉. I'll tell you he hams it up to eleven as the main villain of this peace that I think he got the script, knew it was bad and just decided to ham it up and make it his own. I questioned when watching Your Host in how the main characters became friends in the first place as the moment I saw them on screen they just sprout out their Gen Z dialogue and it's just whatever. Thanks to the success of the Saw franchise, there have been many movies with the same premise trying to cash in on Saw's success and I highly doubt we're going to get a franchise out of this. Did I like the film... Sure and that's only because of Jackie. Did I hate the film? No. I got what I expected out of this movie. Just know if you plan on watching Your Host, you're going to hate the characters like I did.
