Den of Thieves 2: Pantera (2025)
Back in March of this year, I checked out Den of Thieves and I did enjoy it for what it was. With the way the film ended, I knew a sequel was coming. That's the problem nowadays with Hollywood. Not everything needs a sequel, prequel, remake, or reboot. Sometimes a one off is good and it makes you think about what you just watched. In the case of Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, I thought it was an okay sequel which was a little too long which resulted in issues with pacing. The script, okay, but a little weak and acting not bad. Action movies do not need to be over 2 hours as in my opinion it's just extending it's welcome. I do like Gerard Butler in his action roles, I've seen a lot of his stuff but he's nowhere near the likes of Van Damme, Seagal or Stallone. Action flicks were made better in the 80's & 90's and had better pacing and a coherent story which you know was done many times before. The acting may have been bad, but at least it had enough cheese to satisfy you. Action films today, rely way too much on franchises, product placement and bloated runtimes. All in all, despite what I've said, Den of Thieves: Pantera is an okay sequel, but it's not needed.
2/5
