Primitive War (2025)

When I was a kid, I was a heavy video gamer playing a lot of Resident Evil. But there was one other game series I played that I'm really surprised Capcom never got around to doing a movie adaptation was Dino Crisis. The game was basically Resident Evil, just reskinned into dinosaurs. I loved that game and played it hours on end even though I never could beat it because of those damn puzzles. That's a conversation for another time. Primitive War was a movie I heard about on Bloody-Disgusting and after seeing the trailer, I was really excited because it was a horror film about soldiers fighting for their lives against dinosaurs in 60's Vietnam. How can that not be great? I hadn't seen a horror film with dinosaurs since Carnosaur and that movie while bad, it's still cheesy fun thanks to the genius that is Roger Corman. Will Primitive War be the same thing you ask? Well, I'll start by saying that after the opening sequence in Primitive War, I was very disappointed with how it turned out and there's a few reasons for that. One, the movie is 135 minutes long....Why? A horror film about dinosaurs should not be that length. If anything, the film should be at least 90-100 minutes tops, not 135 minutes. That length resulted in it's pacing being sluggish and I couldn't even care for the characters and that's because of the writing which I'll talk a little about script. Two, the script is bad, I mean I got about 30 minutes in and I was just flabbergasted at how boring it was, so I turned it off. Unless the film is extremely bad or boring, I rarely ever turn a film off. This isn't Jurassic Park, I'm not looking a family friendly adventure film. I just want a gory R-rated horror movie with dinosaurs, is that enough to ask? I hear this was based on a book and I'm not a reader per say, but I hope the source material is better than this crap I witnessed.
