Intruder (1989)


When I'm not doing commentary on movies, I work the night shift at a grocery store. Not a day goes by where I think of this film and yet, not a lot of people I've talked to have heard of this one. Intruder... What an original concept for a horror movie. A killer stalking the night crew at a grocery store... Man, that sounds fun. In my 20's, I probably seen every slasher flick with the same plot, killer at a summer camp (Friday the 13th, The Burning), killer invades Valentine's day in a small town (My Bloody Valentine), etc. But when I read the plot for Intruder, I knew I had to check this one out. In my younger days, I grabbed pretty much whatever I could find and it was quite the adventure and when my eyes laid on this film, it was a no brainer that I had to get it. Sure, the plot has been done before like I said, but it was kind of different and interesting. Script is full of cheese and the pacing not bad. Acting is what you would expect in these type of films.

Highly recommended.

When one thinks of a title like Demon City. You're thinking to yourself, a Japanese horror flick?? No, it's an action flick. I was a little misled by the title, thinking it was a horror film because the dialogue in the film keeps referencing the word "demons" but as I continued to watch Demon City, I realized that it was a straight up action flick. I would say it's more of a Japanese knock-off of the John Wick franchise but more violent. The story has been done many times before. I guess people are used to cookie cutter plots. Don't get me wrong, I love action movies and I love Chinese, Japanese action flicks but sometimes they can be a little repetitive. Demon City is decent, but it's all been done before. 3/5

Clown in a Cornfield (2025)

Every once in awhile, there's always a killer clown film that ends up being good, It, Clown... There's a few more but they escape me at the moment. Unfortunately, Clown in a Cornfield isn't a good film. Despite some cool kills and a interesting premise, there are two things that stood out to me when watching the film. The pacing was sluggish which tuned me out at times which is a shame because I really wanted to like Clown in a Cornfield. The script needed work which results in it's clunky pacing and if there's one thing I despise it's social media influencers. Every horror film I've seen has characters that are addicted to social media and all I want to say is a get a job. I can't stand them at all. But I'm trailing off here. Apparently, this is based on a book series and they are coming out with book 4. If they really want to do another film, I suggest writing a strong script to maintain the pacing or *shudder, a soft reboot of the film. I can'...

Alien Rubicon (2024)

Alien Rubicon has no affiliation with the Alien film series. It was made by one of my favorite studios, The Asylum who specialize in making knock-off movies of big budget Hollywood films. Most of the time they're better than the Hollywood film they're making fun of and Alien Rubicon is no exception. With it's bad CGI effects, bad acting, Alien Rubicon is a fun bad movie that tries to not be serious but you can't help but laugh at how bad it is. I grew up watching movies like these to laugh at and make fun of and now as I get older, I begin to appreciate bad movies more. 1/5
