Zombie 90: Extreme Pestilence (1991)
I love zombie films. I grew up with them. The original Night of the Living Dead from 1968 is by far the greatest zombie flick ever made. Millions of zombie flicks tried to cash in on Night's success and many have succeeded and stamped their own legacy while others have faded into obscurity. In my 20's I was a heavy horror movie bootleg collector, searching for a bunch of horror flicks, uncut versions of movies, and through a bunch of message boards, I was told about the worst zombie film of all time, Zombie 90: Extreme Pestilence. I was curious, yet intrigued as I've seen my fair share of bad zombie films and there's a lot I can say about this film. I searched into my collection of movies and found my copy to check it out for old time's sake. First off, Zombie 90: Extreme Pestilence is bad... very bad and you know why? There's no script. You don't know who the main characters are for starters and random people just show up out of the blue just to be killed by zombies. So, where's the story? At one point, there's a few instances where I noticed that the camera goes out of focus in a shot, and they thought that was okay to leave in? I like horror films with gore, don't get me wrong. But you need to balance it out with story. The main thing I remember reading when people were talking about this film was the English dubbing. Yes, Zombie 90 is a German film and I've seen the original audio version and that's even worse. The English dubbing is funny as all hell but it makes the movie more stupid than it is. The pacing is almost non existent as there's no script and the editing... oh my god, the editing is bad. There are moments where the film is cut horribly which results in jump cuts. Zombie 90 is more so or less, a gore film with no real story and horrible dubbing. But by god, it's just as bad as people have told me when I originally went searching for this.
1/5 - I'm only giving it a 1 just because of the English dub.
