Smile 2 (2024)
I still laugh at the fact that with the massive success of the Friday the 13th movies in the 1980's, Paramount was so embarrassed by it because they didn't want to be labeled as the movie studio that only releases horror movies. Yet, they had no problem with making money and ordering sequel after sequel. In the case of Smile, it was such a success that Paramount immediately ordered a sequel. I'm of the opinion that not every horror movie needs a sequel and such is the case with Smile 2. I found it slow, tedious, and boring. I will command that they did a great job with the gore sequences but the film itself would have been better if they had trimmed it down from it's 2 hour run time. I've said this many times that horror films should not be 2 hours. 90-100 minutes, tops. 2 hours is nothing more than adding scenes that have nothing to do with making the plot move forward. The only thing that worked for me was the gore in this movie but the story itself could have been better if it was trimmed down. I sincerely hope we don't get a Smile 3.
