Scurry (2024)

I love a good creature feature every now and then, and the fact Scurry was being advertised as a creature feature filmed entirely in one shot... Well, I was curious enough to check it out. While the plot was indeed interesting and I swear I suffer from claustrophobia as I can't handle movies where people are trapped in confined spaces and have to crawl to survive. Scurry has maybe a couple of issues that I've noticed. The script could have been tightened up as it resulted in pacing issues which was due to it being filmed in one continuous shot. The film is 100 minutes which to me is a no-no. A movie like Scurry should be roughly 85-90 minutes tops. The CGI of the spiders looked wonky to me. I can understand that practical effects would have been a issue given the background of the movie. To me, the spider effects in Scurry, don't scream scary, but laughable. Much like Jaws where you don't see the shark as much, you don't see the spiders as much which saves it from going down to a 1/5. Acting for the most part is fair, so no issues there. I mean, the characters come off as your stereotypical type that have to find a way to escape the underground horrors.

All in all, Scurry is a decent creature feature that could have been better if the issues I mentioned above were addressed better.

2/5
