If there's one thing I love about these obscure 80's slasher flicks is the search for them. I still frequent the horror boards reading people's posts about obscure horror or slasher flicks that need to be seen. Heck, even at my old age, I own many horror films from my years of collecting but it doesn't mean I've stopped looking or retired from collecting. I may have a lot, but I'm always searching for ones that I may have missed out on. Slasher films to the casual moviegoer may be cheesy, corny and bad which is to be expected. But I am a casual moviegoer and I do watch anything or everything that may interest me and horror is never an exception. There's something fun about searching for a flick that people talk about and The Mutilator was one of those films I remember tracking down back in my 20's especially when I was told about the uncut version. Once, I did find a copy of The Mutilator, it was everything I described above. It's cheesy, it's corny especially in it's plot and acting which won't win any awards and it's definitely a Friday the 13th knock-off. The script has every horror cliche in the book and that's okay with me. Back then I wasn't concerned with script or acting, it was more that it had to be uncut and not a cut version released on VHS back in the 80's. It seemed like every slasher film in the 80's was trying to jumpstart a franchise and have it's own iteration of Jason. It's like I've said before, not everything needs to be a franchise and not everything needs a sequel. It's always better if it's a one-off.
